It's raining in Washington
When it rains it pours and I guess living in Washington it really pours. Last week we discovered that one of the diamonds in my wedding ring is about to fall out because the ring is broken. While waiting to get it fixed I started wearing my engagment ring and realized that the stone in it is loose. Both the kids came down with fevers last week as well, and then we were afraid the computer was going out because it wouldn't register power at all. Yesterday the washing machine broke on my first load of the day. This morning the shower won't drain and today on the way to the store our car broke down. Someone helped push me off the road then the kids and I sat and waited for Quinn to come and get us. It kinda makes you stop and say well we're not cooking anything tomorrow and we're not even going to open the fridge or turn on the TV!
Lucky for us when frustrations like this happen we know some dear saints who are willing to step up and help out. Our Elders Quorum President has been over for a while tonight helping with the car after he towed it home for us. Tomorrow the stake Patriarch is coming over to look at our washer and I am relying on the second counselor in the bishopric to fix everything else. The computer problem ended up just being the power cord and it only cost us $10 to get a new cord.

Guess where we are going...
I need to brag on my wonderful husband a little bit. He just got promoted to a new position in Dec but his old one was in 24 hour banking. He just got ranked in the top 5% of bankers in the NATION for 2012. There are about 1100 24 hour bankers in the US and he is in the top 5% in performance. And because he has done so well he won an all expenses paid trip to an all-inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for 2. He wants me to go with him! We leave on March 21 and will be gone for four days. Lucky us I know. I have never been to Mexico and Quinn hasn't been since he was young and went on a cruise with his mom. Oh and he went on a road trip with his roommates to Mexico in 2007. I guess since he's been twice I should really leave him home with the kids. My parents are every excited because they have agreed to watch our two most valuables while we are gone. This will be the first over night trip the two of us have taken without kids since our honeymoon. Quinn will even get paid for the business days he will be gone.

How was YOUR Christmas tree?
Here is what McKay said to Gensie yesterday. "Oh Gensie, how's your
Christmas tree? Good, oh so glad to hear it! Mines good too." When I heard
him say that I thought 'what an interesting thing to say'. I remembered
I've heard him say the same thing before a few times either to Gensie or
someone else. Then I realized where it was coming from. He has heard
Quinn on a number of occasions ask people how their Christmas was. He is
just trying to ask the same question.
Today when McKay needed to use the bathroom Quinn sat in there and read to him. Now Quinn uses the bathroom and McKay reads to Quinn. What goes around comes around.

Going on a Missionary
Tonight laying in bed with McKay I sang Nephi's Courage to him for about the one millionth time. He then let me sing "I Hope They Call Me on a Mission." I could tell he was really listening to the words. When I finished he asked.
McKay: I hope they call me on a missionary mom?"
Me: Yes they will call you on a mission, Daddy went on a mission.
McKay: Where he go on a missionary?
Me: Oregon.
McKay: Where I go on a missionary?
Me: I dont' know, maybe Ecudor?
McKay: Ok, that will be ok.
I have been telling McKay if he goes poo poo in the toilet I will give him some chocolate ice cream. He asked what kind of ice cream? I said chocolate. He said "Oh I want brown chocolate ice cream." I think that can be arranged. Lucky for me he wants it brown and not some other color.

Visiting Teaching
I went visiting teaching today. My companion wasn't able to go so I took Quinn along with me and both the kids. After visiting with this sister for some time she asked Quinn to give her a blessing. Before he started I told McKay if he held very still and was so quiet during the blessing we would take him to the blue store (Goodwill) on the way home. He did sit very very quietly and still while Quinn gave the blessing, but at one point he looks up at Quinn and whispers "Say thank you for the food Dad."

Yogurt In His Tummy
Today, after Mckay had just eaten a yogurt, he and I had a conversation that I thought I would share.
Mckay looked at me very excited and said, "Daddy, mommy have a baby in her tummy!"
Dad: "Yes, she does! Are you excited?"
Mckay: "Yes I am! I have a yogurt in my tummy"
Dad: You do?! Oh, I'm so glad"
Mckay: "Daddy, you want to hold it?"
Dad: "Sure!"
I then put my hand on his belly so I could hold his yogurt. His reply?
"Oh no Dad, you have to wait for it to come out!"
I think I am going to reconsider my offer to hold his yogurt...
After I told Tasha about our little conversation she said it probably came from this morning. Mckay asked to hold the baby and she told him that he had to wait for it to come out.

More from McKay
The other morning the kids and I had just gotten up. McKay was in an exceptionally good mood. He was being so happy and chatty and cheerful. I said to him, "McKay, thank you for being so happy this morning! You are being such a nice boy." He responded with "Oh your welcome, thank you for telling me Mom."
The same morning, a little while later, I thought I smelled a poopy bum so I said "McKay go smell Gensie's bum and tell me if she's poopy." He walks over behind her, bends ever so slightly, tilts his head, sniffs and says "No poopy." I said "Go smell again. I think she's stinky." He repeats the same actions but this time reports "No poopy Mom, smells like flowers." I don't know where he got that but I sure got a kick out of it. I then got up and checked and just as I thought, she did not smell like flowers.
Favorite McKay words this week:
Greenrilla - Gorilla
Cinderella - umbrella
Nofa's ark - Noah's ark

McKay said
Well Brady asked that we post more of the cute things McKay says. He says funny things all the time but I can't always remember them and sometimes they don't make the best story. Here are a few he said recently.
McKay was saying his bed time prayer. I was with him and he went through his usually little routine. Heavenly Father thank you for this day, thank you for Jesus, bless the baby in mommy's tummy, help us to be able to go to the pet store to see the puppies, cats, and the big bird (parrot). Help Mookey to be a good boy and help Jesus to obey his mommy and daddy. I stopped him and said you mean help Mookey to obey is mommy and daddy, he said no, Jesus obey is mommy and daddy.
Ok after all it's his prayer I guess he can pray for whatever he feels is important right?
Yesterday I was taking the kids for a walk. It's cold so I was bundling them up. I asked McKay if he wanted to wear some gloves to keep his hands warm. He looks down at his hands turns them over still looking at them then says "um nope, I'll just wear hands."
