Belly Draw

At a recent appointment for our upcoming baby, one of our midwives offered to do what she called a "Belly Draw".  We thought it was going to be a simple little sketch of the position of our baby, but it was far more than we expected.  She has a set of water-color crayons, that she dips in water and is able to softly draw on Tasha's belly.  It turned out so great!  It was much more detailed than we expected and was so much fun to look at.  The kids loved it, and McKay lifted Tasha's shirt to see the baby as often as he could.  It lasted about 1 full day and when Tasha washed it off McKay would lift Tasha's shirt and ask, "What happened to our baby?  Where'd our baby go?"

McKay wasn't the only one who couldn't get enough of it either though, I have to admit.  I asked to see Tasha's belly more often that McKay!  It just gave such a fun visual and helped me picture the little person we are waiting to meet.  Tasha didn't want to wash it off either.  She said she wasn't going to shower for a week, but her clothes rubbed it off and she showered the next day.  :)

Our midwife couldn't draw the baby in the exact position that it is in, because the head is so low and the back is turned against Tasha's belly button.  She did it more like this because it is much more fun to look at and gives you a better visual of where the kicks are coming from and how the legs and arms push out of Tasha's belly.

This was like a little window into Tasha's belly!  We will meet our new addition to the family any day now, so we are getting very excited!  We are sure many of you are waiting to hear and to know if your guess of a boy or a girl is right.  We are so excited to tell all of you and to find out for ourselves!

Camping in Washington

Tasha and I wanted to take a camping trip this summer, so we decided to take a 1 night trip about 3 weeks before the baby comes!  We decided to go to Battle Ground Lake State Park, which is only a 30 min drive from our house.  It was beautiful and a great place to take a family with small kids.  It has a playground and open grass to play in, and the lake is great.  It's small, but has a swimming area roped off and they stock it with fish.

We decided to go pretty last minute, so we took a walk-in camp site.  It was about 1/4 mile in, but they have wheel barrels that can be used to haul your stuff to your site.  The path was all uphill, so after "going fast" with McKay in the wheel barrel I realized that I need to get into better shape.  The wheel barrels made it SO much easier though; particularly because we had a bunch of stuff.  I was amazed at how much stuff you need for 2 adults and 2 children for only 1 night of camping!

Tasha didn't have any trouble, even with being 3 weeks away from baby #3.  The hike to the site and back a few times made for some great exercise too.

We also invited some friends of ours, Geoff and Aeranee Bennett.  They have a 4 month old daughter, Kolbie, so we were probably the youngest camp around with three kids 3 and under, and one more only a few weeks away.

McKay and Genesis decided to make their own tent

We love our Gensie!

We had some tired kids on the way home.  They decided that everything was too much fun to go to sleep so they got to stay up pretty late.

Things a 3 year old says...

McKay comes up to me and says, "Mommy, my daddy he's pretty handsome; he got his hair combed to go to work and he's pretty handsome."

A little while later he tells me, "I yike my daddy, he's a very nice daddy guy."

McKay: "Mom I'm gonna keep you. Don't go on the road cause then you will die and go to heaven and I want you to stay here."

Last week our Bishop gave McKay a sucker. When he came home with it he told me, "Mom, I have a very really handsome blue sucker."

We got Mook some new big boys because he needed a few more. What a special treat! It might be the best gift we've ever given him. He loves them. He picked some to wear to bed and the next morning, after he picked a pair to wear, he got every pair he owns brought them into the living room and together he and Gensie played and played. How you play with big boys I don't know but they sure had a good time. At one point I over hear this while he was sorting them. "Dees stripe big boys are mine, and dees Mator big boys are mine, and I yuv dem, and Mommy got dees for me at Wal-Mart."

Quinn was looking at some pictures on the camera. He showed me a picture then says to me "That's a great shot." immediatly we hear Mckay  repeat "Dat's a great shit."

McKay says to me talking about the phone "Mom, I hanged it."

I ran to the store tonight and had both kids with me. When McKay noticed Gensie wasn't wearing any shoes he says to me in an alarmed voice, "Oh Mom!  Why's she wearing feet?!"

On the way to the store McKay says "That guy is walking on da road Mom, we better not go over and crash him."

Hakuna Matata

Here is a song by request!  We have not recorded the other ones yet, so we will try to get those soon as well.  I uploaded two separate videos because I love them both!  The second one has a high pitched "Hakuna Matata" because Simba sings high at the end of the song (remember?).  Enjoy!
