Camping in Washington

Tasha and I wanted to take a camping trip this summer, so we decided to take a 1 night trip about 3 weeks before the baby comes!  We decided to go to Battle Ground Lake State Park, which is only a 30 min drive from our house.  It was beautiful and a great place to take a family with small kids.  It has a playground and open grass to play in, and the lake is great.  It's small, but has a swimming area roped off and they stock it with fish.

We decided to go pretty last minute, so we took a walk-in camp site.  It was about 1/4 mile in, but they have wheel barrels that can be used to haul your stuff to your site.  The path was all uphill, so after "going fast" with McKay in the wheel barrel I realized that I need to get into better shape.  The wheel barrels made it SO much easier though; particularly because we had a bunch of stuff.  I was amazed at how much stuff you need for 2 adults and 2 children for only 1 night of camping!

Tasha didn't have any trouble, even with being 3 weeks away from baby #3.  The hike to the site and back a few times made for some great exercise too.

We also invited some friends of ours, Geoff and Aeranee Bennett.  They have a 4 month old daughter, Kolbie, so we were probably the youngest camp around with three kids 3 and under, and one more only a few weeks away.

We love our Gensie!

We had some tired kids on the way home.  They decided that everything was too much fun to go to sleep so they got to stay up pretty late.
