Our Little Song Birds

We had dinner with a couple song birds tonight and got some of it on video for your listening enjoyment!  McKay loves singing songs and will get songs stuck in his head that he will sing all day; most of them are Primary songs we sing for FHE and that Tasha teaches him at night.  Here is a list of some of the songs he likes to sing:

I hope they call me on a mission
Give said the little stream
Popcorn popping on the Apricot Tree
Once there as a Snowman
The Iron Rod
Nephi's Courage
Book of Mormon Stories
When My Mother Calls Me
Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam
I am a Child of God
You are my Sunshine
Hakuna Matata (and a sprinkling of other Disney songs)

Let us know in the comments if you want to hear a particular song in the list above and we will get it recorded and posted!

More of our kids

Genesis is starting to jabber and has used a number of words for a while, but are getting more common.  Here is a list:
Mama                  Laaa (love)
Dada                    Bye
Moo Moo            Hi
Baby                   Yes
Uh-oh                  Up
No

I wish you could hear her cute little voice as she says them and as she jabbers!  We love our baby girl!

McKay continues to bring smiles as well with the things he says.  Here are some recent additions:

This past week we were going to have a ward Father and Sons camp-out that I was going to take McKay to.  (It has been postponed and rescheduled for later BTW).  So as we were getting him excited for it he went into his room and brought out his backpack which he had filled with stuffed animals and announced, "Lets take this backpack to Heavenly Father and sons!"  We laughed, but if you think about it, that could be a correct term...!

Just last night, as I was getting her ready for bed, Genesis took off her diaper (hopefully will not happen too often) so we let her run around in the nude for a while.  We haven't let that happen hardly at all because she hasn't been trustworthy in that regard.  Well, as we were watching she started pushing, so I took her and put her on the toilet.  McKay came into the bathroom to congratulate her for pooping in the toilet, and after taking a look into the toilet he announces, "Gensie pooped a frog!"  Yes, it was green; and I couldn't hold back the laughter.

Latest family prayer

Quinn has a remote control helicopter. McKay really enjoys flying it and has been excited to all day. We told him after family prayer and when Gensie was in bed he could fly it. He volunteered to to say the prayer. This is how family prayer went tonight. "Heavenly Foder, we're grateful opportunity to please bless airburcopper be good; and dat it will say to infinity and beyond. Airmen"

McKay's 3rd birthday

We had such a great time for McKay's birthday!  Ron and Dori Child came with their kids Jagger, Bronson and Crimson.  Ryan and Diana Nye also came with their kids Brodie and Brock.  The party started at 7 pm and the kids were outside playing until well after dark, probably 9:30 or 10 pm; most of the time they were playing hide-and-seek.  The adults had a great time chatting inside, making it a late night for the kids!

Mckay got some Playmobils, a baseball bat and ball, and a truck and trailer.  We decided to give Gensie a present too, so she got a Mother Goose pull-along toy.  Oh, and Gensie also had her first ice cream cone!  She was a fan.

Tasha wants to have creative cakes for the kids on their birthdays, so she made an elephant cake this time around.  It turned out great, and was made out of two 9" round cakes.  She improvised some licorice for a tail and trunk, and some M&M's for toe nails.  My personal favorite addition was the ear.  It was a spinach leaf!

Gensie really enjoyed her very own ice cream cone. She really thought she was a great big kid.

These are the fun kids McKay requested be at his party. From left to right Cousin Jaggar, McKay, Cousin Bronson, Gensie, Cousin Crimson, and friend Brodie.

We love McKay!

McKay comes up and says to me with big bug eyes. "Mom you know what?  A little nice bear is at our house! He's black, blue and red. I shaked his hand. His hand is at da hospito cause da docor need to docor him."

McKay carries Quinn's ipod around in his picket a lot. The battery is dead but he pretends it's his cell phone. He will randomly be playing and out of no where pull it out of his pocket look at it and say "Oh I just got a text from etc." This is how the conversation went the other day.

McKay: Oh I just got a text.

Me: From who?

McKay: Oh just Gavin.

Me: What did he say?

McKay: Oh him dust say come bizzit me.

McKay's last scripture reading went like this as he sits down and opens his Book of Mormon. Talking about Nephi building a boat: "And it came a pass his brothers said no to Jesus and Jesus spanked their bottoms." He turns a few pages and next says "Heavenly Father and Jesus said go away bad guys don't get Salmon da Yamanite."

Mckay was imagining up a big snake that he was telling me about and he called it "A huge big grizzly snake."

McKay told me that  "Grandpa Eastin and Grandpa Prearce are his buddy boys"  (Prearce is his actual pronunciation, not a typo)

The Best of Friends

When ever we think about what good friends McKay and Genesis are Best of Friends is the song that always comes to mind.  Not everything applies perfectly, but you get the idea.  Neither one of them can be without the other for very long.  McKay is always asking Gensie to play and she is always right behind him, but sometimes she is the one playing and McKay can't resist taking part too.  Another favorite quirk is that every time one of them is going down for a nap or to bed they have to say goodnight to each other.  Then almost every morning they give each other a hug when they see each other and get so excited when the other wakes up.  They are the best of friends!

Best Of Friends from Fox And The Hound
When you're the best of friends
Having so much fun together
You're not even aware, you're such a funny pair
You're the best of friends

Life's a happy game
You could clown around forever
Neither one of you sees, your natural boundaries
Life's one happy game

If only the world wouldn't get in the way
If only people would just let you play
They say you're both being fools
You're breaking all the rules
They can't understand, the magic of your wonderland
Hu-hu-hu

When you're the best of friends
Sharing all that you discover
When that moment has past, will that friendship last?
Who can say? There's a way!
Oh I hope... I hope it never ends
'Cause you're the best of friends
