Belly Draw

At a recent appointment for our upcoming baby, one of our midwives offered to do what she called a "Belly Draw".  We thought it was going to be a simple little sketch of the position of our baby, but it was far more than we expected.  She has a set of water-color crayons, that she dips in water and is able to softly draw on Tasha's belly.  It turned out so great!  It was much more detailed than we expected and was so much fun to look at.  The kids loved it, and McKay lifted Tasha's shirt to see the baby as often as he could.  It lasted about 1 full day and when Tasha washed it off McKay would lift Tasha's shirt and ask, "What happened to our baby?  Where'd our baby go?"

McKay wasn't the only one who couldn't get enough of it either though, I have to admit.  I asked to see Tasha's belly more often that McKay!  It just gave such a fun visual and helped me picture the little person we are waiting to meet.  Tasha didn't want to wash it off either.  She said she wasn't going to shower for a week, but her clothes rubbed it off and she showered the next day.  :)

Our midwife couldn't draw the baby in the exact position that it is in, because the head is so low and the back is turned against Tasha's belly button.  She did it more like this because it is much more fun to look at and gives you a better visual of where the kicks are coming from and how the legs and arms push out of Tasha's belly.

 

This was like a little window into Tasha's belly!  We will meet our new addition to the family any day now, so we are getting very excited!  We are sure many of you are waiting to hear and to know if your guess of a boy or a girl is right.  We are so excited to tell all of you and to find out for ourselves!
